The Denver Grizzlies withstood a fine game by Salt Lake City second baseman Howard Garner at Jellystone Park, to upend the Locusts, 10-9. Garner was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 6 runs and scored once. Li-ping Kun picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Mark Cahill, who is tied for 2nd in the PL in saves with 27, was tagged with the loss. Denver leads the Pioneer League North by 6½ games.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Denver trailing 9-8, Francisco Sánchez hit a fastball from Mark Cahill to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Grizzlies had a walk-off win.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Sánchez, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
