Homer starter Néstor Cardoza put the Phoenix offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his fastball in leading the Yetis to a 4-1 win. Phoenix has now lost 5 consecutive games.

Homer took a 2-1 lead on Ron Davis's 19th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Davis hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Phoenix pitcher Sean Helyer visibly frustrated.

"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Jarien Smith told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
