The Mexico City Aztecs downed the Seattle Rainiers, 5-0, at Sick's Stadium. Mexico City pitcher Jesús Fernández had a scintillating performance. Mexico City is now 57-71. Seattle is 78-48.

Fernández, who leaned on his cutter, allowed no runs on just 3 hits over 7 innings for the Aztecs. For the most part, Seattle hitters were simply overmatched.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Mexico City skipper Jaime Martinez.
