The Reno Silver Sox topped the Austin Cowboys, 4-3, in Pioneer League action at Clark Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Reno pitcher Ed Beck. Earning his 31st save for Reno was Leonard Burton. The third-place Silver Sox go to 69-58.

Reno used the timely hitting of Chad Castillo to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Silver Sox ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Castillo told the Reno Observer. "You win just by scoring more runs."
