Hollywood got a strong outing from Jesús Chávez as the Stars defeated the Seattle Rainiers, 4-2, at Sick's Stadium. Chávez, now 11-6, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. David Allen notched his 25th save of the season.

Luis García came through with a big-time hit for Hollywood. The catcher smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

The first-place Stars, at 84-43, lead the Pacific Coast League South by 20 games.
