Starting pitcher Tim McRobert gave the Sacramento Ironhorse a rock-solid effort. The Buena Park, California native helped his team defeat the Portland Beavers, 3-2, at Multnomah Stadium. In 5.1 innings, McRobert surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. The victory gives the Ironhorse a record of 65-63.
Bob McBride, who is tied for 8th in the CL in triples with 6, had a direct impact on the outcome. McBride contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Sacramento up, 3-0.
"We were in it," said Portland manager Pete Donut. "We just didn't score enough runs."
