Carter Rips 2 Home Runs in 5-3 Jacks Triumph
|
The Kansas City Jacks beat the Phoenix Fireballs, 5-3, at Arthur Bryant Ballpark. Steve Carter hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The 25-year old first baseman was a menace to Phoenix all day. Jack Pearson got credit for the win, improving to 11-8. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings. Dennis Armstrong was called on to finish, recording his 16th save.
Carter contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Kansas City in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Carter took a slider from Héctor Márquez and stroked the home run to right-center. His 20th home run of the season allowed the Jacks to leap in front, 3-1.
"Steve is still learning," said Jacks manager Marcus Jelks. "The sky's the limit for him."
The win elevated the Jacks to 66-65.
