Ports Lose to Stars, 5-2

The Hollywood Stars racked up a win at Gilmore Field, bumping off the Long Beach Ports, 5-2. Tony Soto, who started for Hollywood, pitched effectively for his team. Soto, now 10-6, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. With the victory, the Stars upped their record to 90-46.
Hollywood center fielder Ramiro López contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a knuckle curve to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 125th hit of the season and put the Stars ahead, 2-1.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Hollywood manager Scott B.
