The New Orleans Pelicans rode a solid performance from 28-year-old starting pitcher Ray Alexander to a win, beating the Las Vegas Strip, 3-2, at Higgins Park. The Strip, now 40-99, have lost 4 straight.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Toby Harvey came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Las Vegas pitcher John Hodges, he hit a 1-1 knuckle curve for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New Orleans on top, 3-2.

"We found a way to get it done," Harvey said.
