Acorns Get Clutch 2-1 Win
|
The Oakland Acorns had to weather a strong performance from Mexico City pitcher Darby Funk before claiming a 2-1 win in 10 innings. Funk went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Robinson Pérez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 13-8. Alfredo García, who led the CL in saves with 43 last year, was tagged with the loss. With the win, the Acorns have a record of 74-65.
The decisive blow was delivered by Armando Torres in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off five-time All-Star Alfredo García to win the game for Oakland. The home crowd went nuts.
"If you're not prepared, it's not pressure you feel, it's fear," mused Oakland manager Larry G.
