Portland Beavers starter Arthur Bailey pitched his team past the Seattle Rainiers, 3-2. Scott Witt was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 27 of 29 save opportunities. With the win, Portland pushed its record to 74-65.

Portland took advantage of an error in the top of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 1-1, when Ed Lott hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Beavers in front, 2-1.

"Arthur -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Beavers manager Pete Donut. "He was the key to us winning."
