Austin took on Homer in front of a lively crowd.

Austin turned a good effort from starter Tomás Meléndez into a win over the Homer Yetis at Bombers Ballpark. The Cowboys won the game, 6-2. Meléndez, the winner, moves to 4-4. He threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks.

Austin used a clutch at-bat from Steve Aldridge to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cowboys ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Tomás gave us a heck of an effort," said Austin manager John Kolman.

The 5th-place Cowboys go to 22-28.
