The Seattle Rainiers knocked off the Los Angeles Angels, 4-3, in Pacific Coast League action at Sick's Stadium. Seattle pitcher and Levittown, Puerto Rico, native Martín Sánchez had an outstanding performance. The winner was Luigi Henderson in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Clyde Overcash took the loss. Seattle, at 22-28, occupies last place in the Pacific Coast League North.

Had Edgardo Hernández not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hernández hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Rainiers.

"Bottom line," said Los Angeles skipper David K, "we didn't play well enough to win."
