Seals Lose By a Run at Mexico City
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Mexico City Aztecs and the San Francisco Seals, 27-year old right-handed pitcher Jesús Fernández was the difference-maker. The Mexico City right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. The winner was Fernández. He threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Cornell Jenkins. Alfredo García picked up the save for Mexico City, his 36th of the year.
Shane Cunningham drove in one run for Mexico City. The 11-year veteran had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Cornell Jenkins. It was his 46th RBI of the season.
Fernández said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
Mexico City is 5th in the Pacific Coast League North with a record of 66-77.
