Behind a fine performance from Wilson Pérez, the Austin Cowboys knocked off the New Orleans Pelicans, 3-1. Pérez was 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Cowboys. Rafael Infante, the winning pitcher, is now 14-9. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while fanning 7 and walking 3. Will Goodwin notched his 28th save in 34 chances.
The game turned with one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Pérez hit a 2-run home run off Sergio Estrada. It propelled the Cowboys into the lead, 3-1.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Pérez. "And not try to do too much."
The win puts Austin at 76-67 this season.
