Portland Loses, 10-7, Despite Matsumoto Performance
Portland first baseman Tadaaki Matsumoto was sensational. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Long Beach beat the Beavers, 10-7. The 4th-place Ports sport a record of 24-28.

Long Beach center fielder Steven Nolan contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the eighth. With two down, he hit a curveball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 22nd hit of the season and put the Ports ahead, 9-7.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Nolan told reporters after the game.
