A jubilant Bob McBride joined the postgame press conference at Perris Hill Park to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the San Bernardino Stallions pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the Sacramento Ironhorse left fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led to the 12-8 Ironhorse win.

"He made it look easy," said Brick B, manager of the Stallions. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Bob McBride hit an RBI triple in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

This year, McBride has batted at a .303 pace with 61 hits, 3 home runs, 32 RBIs and scored 29 times.
