In a low-scoring affair between the Mexico City Aztecs and the Sacramento Ironhorse, pitcher Jesús Fernández was the difference between victory and defeat. The Mexico City right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Aztecs win. The winner was Fernández. He threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Pedro Gabriel. Alfredo García earned the save, his 37th in 41 tries.

Mexico City used the timely hitting of Júlio Pérez to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Aztecs on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Fernández called the win a testament to his team's "grit."

The 5th-place Aztecs now sit at 69-79.
