Beavers Come Back Late to Top Rainiers, 5-3
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Portland Beavers and Seattle Rainiers.

The Portland Beavers topped the Seattle Rainiers, 5-3, in Pacific Coast League action at Multnomah Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Portland pitcher and Delphos, Ohio, native Robin Joseph. Portland reliever Rory Anderson picked up the win, upping his record to 6-3. Martín Sánchez absorbed the loss. Bill Frazier earned his 32nd save in 33 tries.

Had Carlos Barrios not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Barrios hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Beavers.

"We try to keep the mood light around here," said Joseph. "Winning helps."

The first-place Rainiers have lost 5 consecutive games.
