Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Millers
|
Fred Aplin left his imprint on the 7-5 Minneapolis win against the Salt Lake City Locusts. Aplin, who is a three-time Platinum Glove Award winner, went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Minneapolis reliever Tommy Anderson picked up the win, upping his record to 7-4. Mark Cahill was saddled with the loss. Dirk Veeck recorded the save, making him 45 for 53.
Aplin had a timely hit for Minneapolis in the bottom of the eighth. With Salt Lake City trailing 5-4, he turned a 0-1 changeup into a 3-run home run. It was his 15th home run of the season, making it 7-5, Minneapolis.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Minneapolis manager .
The Locusts, now 74-77, have lost 4 straight.
