The Oakland Acorns, despite a fine performance by Long Beach pitcher Johnny Clayton, grabbed a 3-2 win at Oakland Ball Park. Clayton allowed 1 run over 9 innings. Domingo López earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record is now 1-0. The win for the Acorns raised their record to 82-69.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Oakland second baseman Raúl Tamayo, facing Kenny Walton, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Acorns the 3-2 win.

"Took some scratching and clawing," said Tamayo. "But we got it done."
