Fireballs Suffer One-Run Loss at New Orleans
The Phoenix Fireballs got a sterling performance from pitcher Cristo Richardson, but the New Orleans Pelicans still prevailed, 3-2. Richardson threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Jerry Beckmann earned his 5th save in 10 chances. The win for the Pelicans lifted their record to 76-75.

Had Héctor Cruz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Cruz hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Pelicans.

"It feels good to get this one," Cruz told the New Orleans Daily News.
