Kichida Swings Pelicans to 13-4 Win
The New Orleans Pelicans marched over the Phoenix Fireballs, 13-4, at Higgins Park. Kazuyoshi Kichida, who finished 3rd in the PL in slugging percentage with .638 last year, led the charge. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. New Orleans raised its record to 77-75 with the win.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Richard Orr came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Phoenix pitcher Sergio Ramírez, he hit a 1-0 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New Orleans on top, 5-4.

"The team always comes first," Orr told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
