Acorns Come Up Short at Portland, 3-2
|
Portland Beavers starter Arthur Bailey was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Oakland Acorns, 3-2. Bill Frazier earned his 36th save in 37 chances. Portland is 5th in the Pacific Coast League North with a record of 69-90.
Had Bob Aguirre not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Aguirre hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Beavers.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Bailey told a Portland Today reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
