The Seattle Rainiers topped the Oakland Acorns, 5-4, in Pacific Coast League action at Oakland Ball Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Seattle pitcher Rubén Espinosa. Kevin Banks notched his 38th save in 42 chances. Seattle's record now stands at 101-58, placing them first in the Pacific Coast League North.

Seattle used a well-timed hit by Gilberto Lugo to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rainiers ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"I still think this team can play even better," Espinosa told the Seattle Observer.
