The Houston Lone Stars picked up a win at Clark Field, knocking off the Austin Cowboys, 5-3. On the mound for Houston was left-hander Alfonso Hernández, who played a pivotal role in the win. Houston reliever Ron Dunlap picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Will Goodwin was saddled with the loss. Rubén Rodríguez nailed down his 25th save.

Houston used the clutch hitting of Israel González to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Lone Stars the lead, 4-3. For the game, González had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"Anytime we get it going, it puts a smile on my face," said Hernández.

Houston is now 91-70.
