The New Orleans Pelicans picked up a win at Banditos Ballpark, taking down the Las Vegas Strip, 4-1. Starting pitcher Pedro Hardy was a big reason why. Hardy, now 13-9, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Jerry Beckmann recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 6 for 13.
New Orleans used the timely hitting of Joe James to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pelicans on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Pedro did a heck of a job," said New Orleans manager Day Breaker.
With the victory, the Pelicans record stands at 81-80.
