Austin Cowboys starter Bill Simpson found his groove in his team's 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Simpson picked up the win for Austin, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 3-6. The third-place Cowboys bumped their record to 30-28.

Austin used a well-timed hit by Jimmy Rodríguez to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cowboys ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
