The Minneapolis Millers downed the Oakland Acorns, 4-1, at Nicollet Park. Stellar pitching by Ernesto Rivera had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who finished 4th in the PL in wins with 17 in 2010, handcuffed his opponent all game. After today's action, Minneapolis sits at 28-37; Oakland slips to 37-28.

Fred Aplin had a big 2-run double for the Millers in the bottom of the first inning. With Minneapolis leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a splitter from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Arturo Escobedo and swatted a double to left. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Millers ahead, 3-0.
