Locusts Score Late to Nip Silver Sox, 3-2

Reno got a big-time effort from pitcher Ed Beck, but it wasn't enough to keep the Salt Lake City Locusts from winning the game, 3-2. Beck threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The winner in relief was Luis Tucker. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. Picking up his 3rd save was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Mark Cahill.
Fernando Gimarey came through with a big-time hit for Salt Lake City. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Winning is contagious," said Gimarey. "We're looking forward to the next game."
The win puts Salt Lake City at 4-2.
