The first-place Denver Grizzlies took on the Phoenix Fireballs in front of a spirited crowd.

The Denver Grizzlies defeated the Phoenix Fireballs, 7-0, in Pioneer League action at Jellystone Park. Denver pitcher Raúl Ángel had a standout performance. Marcos Carranza closed the game out for Denver, earning his 2nd save.

It was an impressive turn from the legendarily hard-working Ángel, who tallied 8 strikeouts in 7 innings while allowing just 1 hit. Ángel, who leads the PL in wins with 9, goes to 9-3 on the year with 67 strikeouts.

"Raúl controlled the strike zone," said Denver manager Chris Needham.

Denver now sits at 48-21, while Phoenix falls to 37-31.
