A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Austin Cowboys and New Orleans Pelicans.

The Austin Cowboys locked up a win at Higgins Park, knocking off the New Orleans Pelicans, 6-1. On the mound for Austin was left-hander Tomás Meléndez. He played a major role in the triumph. The victory gives Austin a record of 35-32.

Austin won the game in part because of Juan Vázquez. The left fielder ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Cowboys ahead, 3-1. For the game, Vázquez had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"I really like what we did out there today," Vázquez said after the game.
