Lone Stars Get Past Reno, 7-6
|
Though he had a terrific game, Otto Reed could not prevent his team, the Reno Silver Sox, from absorbing a loss. Houston won the game, 7-6. Reed was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The save was credited to George Simms, his 2nd. Houston has an impressive 48-24 record.
Howard Collins drew 1 walk for Houston. The 23-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jonathon López. It was his 7th walk of the season.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Collins told the Houston Gazette.
