Booth Goes Off, But Breakers Win
The San Diego Breakers besoiled an otherwise fine performance by San Jose first baseman Tommy Booth by beating the Owls, 8-5, at Perris Hill Park. Booth was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. San Diego reliever Francisco Rodríguez picked up the win. David Gómez, who is tied for 8th in the CL in saves with 12, took the loss for San Jose. Today's win puts San Diego at 31-42, while San Jose falls to 37-36.

San Diego took control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Barrett Willis hit a run-scoring single to make it 4-3, Breakers.

Willis said afterward that "winning is the goal."
