Portland Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in WCS
Riding the 3-hit performance of left fielder Jim Poole, the Portland Beavers stopped the visiting Seattle Rainiers, 9-7, in Game 3 of the Wild Card Series. Poole went 3-5 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Beavers, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.

A key moment came with no one out in the bottom of the third. That's when Poole hit a changeup from Tony Domínguez for a run-scoring double, putting Portland up, 3-2.

"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Poole.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Multnomah Stadium in Portland.
