GONE! 3 HRs for Vázquez Friday, June 3rd , 2016 Seattle Rainiers right fielder Juan Vázquez sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Homer Yetis, Vázquez told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Vázquez pushed the Rainiers past the Yetis, 9-8. To go along with the homers, he collected 7 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Vázquez told reporters after the game. Juan Vázquez walked in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Alfonso Hernández in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Edwin Miller in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Roy Roberts in the 9th and doubled in the 11th. In 52 games this season, Vázquez is batting .300 with 51 hits and 18 home runs. He has scored 32 runs and driven in 48. |
