Coleman Sizzles, El Paso Fizzles
Tuesday, July 21st , 2015
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Michael Coleman of the Roswell Grays proved the point at Grays Ballpark, holding the El Paso Diablos to 6 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Coleman made us look real bad today," Diablos manager said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Coleman had 9 strikeouts and gave up 3 walks as the Grays took the 8-0 win.
On his stats sheet this season, Coleman shows a 10-10 record, 25 starts, 185.2 innings, 173 strikeouts and a 3.01 ERA.
