Slaughter Records Shutout Against Comets

The Vernon Comets struggled at the plate against Surf hurler Rob Slaughter, who shackled them on 3 hits while hurling a complete-game 5-0 shutout.
"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Comets skipper in postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."
Slaughter finished the game with 10 strikeouts and 3 walks in an excellent mound performance.
"He pitched real well," Kailua manager said. "Rob made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."
In 25 starts this season, Slaughter has picked up 11 wins while suffering 10 losses. He has pitched 188.2 innings, allowed 138 hits, struck out 195 and posted a 3.15 ERA.
