Red-Hot Bat: Starks Collects Cycle
Wednesday, August 19th , 2015
Requiring speed, power, and regular contact, the cycle is often seen as a test of a complete hitter. For Zach Starks, consider that test passed.
The 22-year-old second baseman hit for the cycle at Henderson Grounds, to help the Helena Handbaskets triumph, 11-2, over the St. Joseph Riders. All told, Starks delivered 4 hits in 5 at-bats with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored.
"It feels good of course, but I'm not going to kid anyone -- there's a lot of luck in hitting for the cycle," he said after the game. "Several unique things have to come together all in the same game."
Zach Starks tripled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jed Cummings in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
Starks is batting .301 this season in 124 games with 12 home runs, 63 RBIs and 65 runs scored. He has 142 hits in 471 at-bats.
