Fleming on a Rampage, Hits for Cycle
Friday, August 21st , 2015
Getting 4 hits in a game is no easy feat, but doing it to hit for the cycle is even more rare.
Chris Fleming of the Peoria Paratroopers pulled it off at Bisons Ballpark, going 4-for-4 against the Odessa Oilmen. His batting escapades sparked the Paratroopers to a win, 12-1.
Fleming tallied 3 runs and drove in 5 during the game. Hitting for the cycle is particularly rare because of the different skills required - enough power for a home run, enough speed for a triple and enough patience at the plate to see at least four hittable balls.
"It just happened," Fleming said to reporters after the win. "Must have been fate or something, I wasn't expecting it. Heck, I wasn't even really trying for it."
Chris Fleming doubled in the 2nd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Kevin Anderson in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
For the season, Fleming has hit .218 with 5 home runs and 31 RBIs. He has played in 93 games and scored 16 times.
