Nets, Gray Blank Santa Cruz, 2-0
Tuesday, August 25th , 2015
Dustin Gray of the Tucson Nets was on top of his game.
The 23-year-old tantalized the Santa Cruz Sailors with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 2-0.
"He had the changeup working," Santa Cruz manager said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Tucson hurler had 12 strikeouts, gave up 4 walks and surrendered 2 hits in his complete-game effort.
Gray told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
In the current season in 27 starts, Dustin Gray has a record of 8-10 with 237 strikeouts in 209.2 innings and a 2.28 ERA.
