Players don't hit three home runs in a game very often and when they do, it is something to celebrate. After today, Jesús Chávez can celebrate.

The St. Joseph Riders center fielder powered three into the stands at Aristocrats Ballpark today against the El Paso Diablos.

"It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Chávez told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one."

In all, he was 3-for-5 as the Riders toppled El Paso by a score of 10-5, knocking in 5 runs and scoring 3 times.

"He is blessed with a natural home run swing," St. Joseph manager said. "He gets the ball up in the air."

Jesús Chávez hit a solo-shot off Juan Peña in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Juan Peña in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Merrill Ballard in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.

Thus far this season Chávez is hitting .184 with 13 home runs, 36 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 58 hits in 316 at-bats and has played in 94 games.
