15-K Game for Riders Simpson
Thursday, June 2nd , 2016
Everything was working for Steve Simpson at Henderson Grounds. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The curveball was working.
In an unforgettable performance, the 21-year-old Simpson fanned 15 Diamonds and sparked the 6-4 St. Joseph Riders victory over Little Rock. He left Diamonds hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it.
"I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said St. Joseph manager . "His location and command were really something."
In addition to collecting 15 strikeouts over 8.2 innings, Simpson allowed 8 hits and 5 walks in a superlative outing.
"I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Simpson said with a smile.
This year, Simpson has compiled a 3-7 mark with a 3.44 ERA.
