Little Rock Comes up Empty Against Griffin
Thursday, June 30th , 2016
Steve Griffin led the Roswell Grays to a shutout victory, 17-0, over the Little Rock Diamonds at Ballpark of Little Rock.
"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Griffin recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."
Griffin yielded 7 hits and had 11 strikeouts and 3 walks in the standout performance.
"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Little Rock manager said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."
To date, Griffin has a 5-7 mark in 16 starts with a 5.47 ERA. He has given up 98 hits in 103.2 innings, struck out 108 and issued 58 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .261 batting average against him.
