In a low-scoring contest, Houston pitcher Larry Adams was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 1-0 win. Adams picked up the win for Houston, going 5 innings. He gave up no runs on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Picking up his 2nd save was 12-year veteran Rubén Rodríguez.

The Lone Stars got a big at-bat from shortstop Pepe Quiñones. For the game, Quiñones went 2-4 with 2 doubles. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave Houston a 1-0 lead.

"That's baseball," said Austin manager John Kolman. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
