Stars Pull Out Late-Game Win, 5-4
|
The Hollywood Stars had to overcome a fine effort from San Diego pitcher Rod Lee to win, 5-4, at Perris Hill Park. Lee went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. Hollywood reliever David Allen picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. José Romero absorbed the loss. The Breakers fall to 5-9 and continue to sputter in the early going.
Roy Hopkins drove in one run for Hollywood. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off José Romero. It was his 9th RBI of the season.
"We're playing like we're capable of," said Hollywood manager Scott B.
