In a low-scoring tilt between the Houston Lone Stars and the Las Vegas Strip, former first round draft pick Isaac Nieves was the difference-maker. The Houston right-hander spearheaded the 3-0 win. Picking up his 3rd save was 36-year old right-handed pitcher Rubén Rodríguez. Early on, the Lone Stars, at 11-4, have played an impressive brand of baseball.

Nieves gave Houston a blue-ribbon performance. The 6-foot-8 right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits over 7.2 innings of work.

Nieves told the Houston Citizen: "I was born for the big stage."
