The San Francisco Seals got a stellar performance from pitcher Dennis Tipton, who handcuffed the Portland offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Ohlone Park. San Francisco now has a record of 6-8.

The Seals got a big at-bat from first baseman Jeff Brown. For the game, Brown went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave San Francisco a 3-1 lead.

Brown told a San Francisco News reporter that the win made him feel "upbeat about our team."
