Millers Squelch Silver Sox Offense in Shutout Win
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Minneapolis Millers and the Reno Silver Sox. Minneapolis won it, 3-0. Minneapolis starter Dirk Veeck was in command. Veeck got the win, improving to 1-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 8.1 innings. He allowed no runs. The Silver Sox fall to 7-10 and continue their uneven start to the 2015 season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jorge Bruno? The Minneapolis third baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Millers on top, 1-0. For the game, Bruno had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Veeck.
