Millers Slip Past Fireballs, 9-7
The Minneapolis Millers launched their 2015 campaign with a victory over the Phoenix Fireballs at Nicollet Park. Minneapolis third baseman Jorge Bruno was instrumental in the 9-7 win. He went 3-5 with a triple and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times. The winner in relief was Dave Simpson. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Picking up his 1st save was former first round draft pick Greg Smith.

A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when left fielder Campbell Broomhead, who led the CL in stolen bases with 74 in 2012, hit a single. The Millers went on to win.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Bruno, "one at-bat at a time."
